A Timeless Classic

Based on the timeless tales by Wisconsin writer Hamlin Garland, the musical adaptation of Main-Travelled Roads tells two tales of love, one laugh-out loud funny, the other one bittersweet but very satisfying.

The stories combine to form a musical that is both tuneful and charming. Main-Travelled Roads is about lives and loves in early Wisconsin and has proven to be a crowd-pleaser.

This musical  has a proven pedigree, having been featured at several festivals, it is also the winner of the prestigious Richard Rodgers Award for New Musicals.

Main-Travelled Roads has been produced across the Midwest.

This musical also has terrific staging and casting opportunities.  It was originally written for a cast of 4 actors who doubled (and tripled) roles throughout the show.  However, it has been successfully staged with casts of 10+, eliminating the doubling and adding a chorus for the group numbers.

The perfect show for a small professional theater on a budget, or for a high school or college production looking to provide more opportunities for their actors in a rich, nuanced literature-based musical.
